I am always fascinated by people's homes. Especially this time of year! Don't you just love to see the inside of people's homes? I mean, aren't there just a million ways to decorate a Christmas tree? I don't think I have ever seen a truly ugly Christmas tree.
Whenever I am invited to someone's house, I love to “get the tour.” If they don't offer, without being too nosy or rude, I try to “scope out” the place. So much can be learned about a person or family from their home. Each person's unique personality is reflected in the style, coloring, layout, and décor of their home.

Take me, for instance. I am a rustic, homespun girl all the way. There really isn't a contemporary bone in my body. My dream home is a log cabin . In the middle would be a table bedecked with a red and white checked tablecloth and a oil lamp burning in the center. The floors would be the most rustic of wood and there would never be any painting, because the walls and ceilings would be wood too! It would be very simple, but rustic elegant. Are you picturing this?
Several years ago, I decided that since I would probably never own a log cabin, there was nothing stopping me from bringing the log cabin to my house. So I started redecorating every room with a lodge look. Fortunately, I live along the Yellowstone River not far from the Beartooth Mountains, and my surroundings greatly lend themselves to this style of decorating. I love my “cabin” on the river. (In reality it is a ranch style house set on a basement overlooking the river.) I never tire of the lodge feel, and one of the benefits is that at Christmas, I only have to add a few touches here and there.
So here is a glimpse into my home. How 'bout giving us a glimpse of yours?

Oh, RomaLee, how I wish I still lived next door to you! Could mosey on over to your place to share some hot chocolate. I'd bring along some of my hubby's famous dark chocolate cookies to munch on (secret recipe) and we'd settle in on your comfy couch in front of the fire with a couple of good books (not "textbooks" like in the old days). Would probably not get much readin' done though, 'cause we'd be yakkity yakkin' so much! Love your rustic cabin decor! We still have exactly the same style - "Montana Ranch" - even though I'm a South Dakota girl now. Thanks for sharing your pretty home! Blessings to you and yours!
